The Role

To lead and manage the country programme in Pakistan that responds to the context, utilizes the appropriate levers defined in the Asia regional strategy and contributes to the overall global goals and strategy of Oxfam. The Country Director provides vision and strategic direction to all of Oxfam’s work in the country which includes Oxfam’s humanitarian responses, long term development programme design and implementation and influencing work on gender justice, economic justice and resilience. All of these need to be coupled with business development and resource mobilization (fundraising). The Country Director is responsible and accountable for the strategic direction and effective management of the country programming ensuring development, continued improvement in quality and impact of programmes, effective management of financial and human resources as well as reputation, security and legality as in line with Oxfam Policy.

What we are looking for

  • Proven track record of leading and motivating multi-disciplinary, geographically remote teams and operations across a number of locations.
  • Significant senior leadership and management experience in the development and delivery of high quality programs, influencing and humanitarian strategy, with and through partners or directly, in one or more challenging locations.
  • Experience of managing complex change processes and relationships involving a wide range of both internal and external multi-cultural stakeholders across a variety of disciplines and geographical areas.
  • Experience of taking leadership of formal and informal networks comprising of various stakeholders with the proven ability to forge collaborations and align diverse interests towards a common goal.
  • A high degree of self-awareness
  • Demonstrable experience of building high performing teams with proven experience and understanding of how to drive and support excellent team performance and individual development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key development sectors such as gender and social inclusion, private sector engagement, economic justice, water governance and resilience.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Ability to demonstrate an openness and willingness to learn about the application of gender/gender mainstreaming, women’s rights, and diversity for all aspects of development work.
  • Commitment to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies to ensure all people who come into contact with Oxfam are as safe as possible.
