POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Public Works Facility Inspection Supervisor, performs inspections of electrical systems in new-construction, upgraded, and/or repaired, semi-permanent, or relocatable structures. Ensures compliance with requisite contractual, US Government, DOD, U.S. Army, local and safety, regulations, codes, policies, guidelines and instructions. Provides support to the Facilities Maintenance Branches and Projects Team.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1. Performs initial, in-progress, and final inspections on preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
2. Performs on the spot corrections while conducting in-progress inspections.
3. Ensures repairs and alterations to remedy inspection violations are accomplished according to required industry code(s).
4. Uses As-Built plans, blueprints, and schematics as references to perform inspections.
5. Performs site visits during each phase of construction (initial through final) to conduct inspections.
6. Follows-up as needed to perform additional inspections during each phase of construction (initial through final).
7. Inspects in-progress and completed work for quality workmanship and safety.
8. Reviews materials to be used prior to the start of work.
9. Signs off that all work has been satisfactorily accomplished following completion of maintenance or project activities.
10. Uses the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track and update work orders as needed.
11. Makes on the spot corrections (Safety and Quality) on repairs and installations during in progress inspections.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Electrician’s hand tools and shop tools, computers, printers and other forms of office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally conducted on-site at maintenance and project locations in out-of-doors areas with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work may require lifting up to 50 lbs, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, and Fire Regulations and published company work rules.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Work may require lifting up to 50 lbs., stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. Certification as master tradesman preferred
3. Must possess a valid Journeyman’s or Master Electrician license from the United States
4. Must possess a valid driver’s license from the US for the purpose of obtaining a Kuwait Driver’s License
Experience:
Minimum of ten (10) years continuous experience performing installation or maintenance on electrical systems at the electrician’s or inspector’s level
Skills:
1. Must possess the technical skill to identify repair requirements as it pertains to electrical equipment.
2. Must have expert knowledge of equipment manuals for servicing, operations and repair of electrical systems.
3. Must be an expert in corrective actions performed by maintenance teams.
4. Must have the ability to troubleshoot, service and repair electrical systems.
5. Must have full knowledge of electrician’s tools and test equipment.
6. Must be proficient in all phases of paperwork as it pertains to servicing, maintenance, repairs, classification, etc.
7. Must have expert knowledge of equipment operations as it is critical to providing a quality inspection program.
8. Must be capable of giving and receiving instructions during the course of normal duties.
9. Must be capable of working independently with little-or-no guidance.
10. Must be willing to adapt to rapidly-changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
